Pollmann has a long tradition of more than one hundred years in the development and manufacturing of innovative high-precision products. The company was founded in 1888 by Franz Pollmann as a craft enterprise for the manufacturing of high-precision mechanical devices and watches in Karlstein (Waldviertel, Lower Austria).

Establishment of the company by clock/watchmaker Franz Pollmann. Manufacturing of clock movements for kitchen and living-room clocks, running gears and pressure gauges.

Franz Pollmann hands over the business to his son Ernst and his son's wife Hildegard. Ernst Pollmann Sr. entered the business in 1926 in and graduated from the same professional clock school in Karlstein as his wife. From 1924 to 1945 he works as a teacher there. Since 1930, the manufacturing has been expanded to include gear, band feed and writing meters.

Company name changed and registered as Ernst Pollmann Uhren und Apparatebau OHG. The manufacturing of counters first starts in 1958; at first only for reel-to-reel and tape recorders.

The product range is expanded to include gauges, intermediate relays and spring assemblies. The company already has more than 200 employees. New halls are needed to expand the business.

Ernst Pollmann Sr. hands the business over to his sons Ernst and Herbert, who entered it in 1962. A year earlier, after 80 years, the clock/watch production is phased out and a clock/watch wholesale launched. The manufacturing focus is on audiotape counters.

The manufacturing of counters for speedometers launches the company as a supplier for the automotive industry. A year later, video recorder parts are first manufactured, which, in 1986 with the introduction of outsert technology, comprise the entire drive chassis.

100-year celebration and awarding of quality certificate Q1 from Ford GB and USA to Pollmann as one of the first companies in Austria. In 1991 Pollmann receives the Chrysler quality certificate "Quality Excellence".

Establishment of the first subsidiary in the Czech Republic - Jindrichuv Hradec.

Manufacturing of the first sunroof mechanism with the help of outsert technology for the Webasto Company in Stockdorf (Germany).

Transfer of the CEO responsibility to the fourth generation Markus and Robert Pollmann. Annual production of kilometer counters reaches its peak at 7 million counter modules.

Enclosures for door locking system with integrated tracks are manufactured successfully for the first time. Pollmann is certified according to ISO 9001, QS 9000 and VDA 6.1.

The second overseas Pollmann manufacturing location opens its door on August 1^st in Romeoville/Chicago, USA.

First product for the medical sector: Production launch of MYOBOCK electrodes for hand and knee prostheses for Otto Bock. Pollmann Austria is certified pursuant to ISO 14001:1996.

Founding of Pollmann China in Kunshan (Shanghai).
