E-Mobility Trends for the Future - Pollmann on the Road to the IAA 2021 in Munich

The IAA Mobility, the international automotive exhibition first took place in Munich this year and attracted over 400,000 visitors.

The IAA Mobility, the international automotive exhibition took place for the first time in Munich and recorded over 400,000 visitors this year. A new concept was applied. On the one hand, more space was given to the area of micro mobility and on the other hand, the exhibition was not only held at the exhibition area, some exhibitors could be found in the city center of Munich. Not only a new concept symbolized the turnaround of the mobility industry at the IAA, also the participants did. For the first time, system suppliers were represented, as well as prominent players from the e-mobility sector. System suppliers, who have so far mainly excelled in the field of powertrains or engines, showed their developments in the field of electric powertrains. Another focus was also on the topic of "autonomous driving".

Martin Zwotzl, Global Business Unit Manager E-Mobility about the IAA: "It was interesting to see the developments and applications of those customers with whom they are already working together in the field of bus bars and electric management, and also to be able to hold discussions with competent contacts. One thing is clear in any case: the future of the mobility is electric and becomes autonomous!"

Pollmann in the e-mobility sector

As the current requests, activities and also the discussions at the IAA show, it is proven that Pollmannn is ideally positioned for the requirements of e-mobility. Especially the components around bus bars are showing a significant growth. Whether Battery Junction Box, Inverter or Charger: a variety of Bus Bars can be found in all systems. This ranges from simple designs to more complex components with integrated electronics - Pollmann's core competence in every case. Also in the field of cell connectors, the chosen path is going in the right direction. The question of which form of cells will be used can be answered in the sense that both pouch and prismatic cells have their applications. In some cases, they can even be used in the different vehicles of an OEM. In cooperation with competent partners, Pollmann can offer the entire range of components for electrical power management in e-vehicles, from development to global series production.
