Since 1888, corporate responsibility and sustainability have been a lived practice at Pollmann. Shaped by craftsmanship, common sense and a deep connection to our homeland, we realized early on that economic success and environmental protection go hand in hand – not least because of our location in the heart of the Austrian countryside.
This philosophy remains true to this day.

The climate crisis is our shared responsibility

The climate crisis affects us all, and it does not spare Pollmann either. For us, this means taking responsibility throughout the entire value chain. It is not enough to simply optimize individual aspects. Rather, we are constantly examining how we can manufacture our products, use materials, and design processes in order to reduce emissions in a sustainable manner. We are well aware that the greatest leverage lies not only at our own company sites but, above all, in the supply chain. We are working with our partners to make concrete improvement. Climate protection is a shared task. Individual measures are not enough: We have to think holistically to be part of the solution in the long term.

Our daily actions have an impact on our planet

Environmental responsibility is deeply anchored at Pollmann. All our locations worldwide are ISO 14001 certified and meet international standards for environmental management. We actively take responsibility for our influence on environment and society. At the same time, it is our duty to continuously analyze our processes, identify potential for improvement, and take appropriate measures. Our approach is clear: We understand sustainability as an ongoing process, aware that there is always room for improvement. We provide transparency regarding our progress, actions, and goals through our regular sustainability report. This is how we practice sustainability at Pollmann:

Reduce environmental impact

We are committed to environmentally responsible production and use raw materials and energy sparingly. For unavoidable emissions and waste, we seek cost-effective ways to recycle or dispose of them in an environmentally responsible manner. When planning new facilities, we always design our production processes to be efficient and resource-conserving.

Increase environmental awareness of employees

Environmental protection starts with our employees and is the responsibility of each one of us. We promote personal accountability in all areas of corporate environmental protection through education and awareness training. We offer incentives for suitable suggestions for improvement from our employees.

Ensure legal compliance

Compliance with laws and regulations is a matter of course for us. This applies to environmental regulations and to any other type of ordinance or regulatory notice.

Avoid emergencies

We take precautions against malfunctions and ensure appropriate measures during the manufacture of our products to prevent operational disruptions and to mitigate any environmental impacts resulting from such disruptions. We regularly review our emergency plans and expand them as needed, coordinating with the relevant authorities.

Neighbor relations

Pollmann believes in transparent communication with the public. We conduct an open dialog about environmental topics that affect us with neighbors, authorities, and all interested parties.

Environmental management system

We also promote environmental protection among our suppliers and customers because we see this as a shared responsibility. We give preference to suppliers with eco-friendly modes of transportation and environmentally responsible practices in general and encourage them to contribute to continuously improved environmental performance through their activities, products, and services. The implementation of an environmental management system is suggested.

Social responsibility

Our employees are our most valuable asset. Treating one another with respect and upholding human rights are at the heart of everything we do at Pollmann and are rooted in our internal guidelines and codes of conduct. At the same time, we make targeted investments in the future: Our initiative “Start your future now” promotes young talents and accompanies them on their professional journey. As a company with deep regional roots, we make an effort to create value locally and support jobs in the region. This long-term perspective is reflected in the high level of loyalty among our workforce: Numerous employees have been part of Pollmann in Austria for more than 20 years. In addition, we create a family-friendly work environment and promote the health and professional development of our employees through a variety of programs and initiatives. We are committed to continuously improving our initiatives and reporting transparently on our progress.
