Pollmann celebrates its 130th anniversary with an Open House

Karlstein. Pollmann does not have to worry about attendance numbers when it opens its doors during the Lower Austrian Industry Days 2018. Last Friday, 750 guests took the opportunity during the Industry Days 2018 to take a behind-the-scenes look at the top company in Waldviertel. The global market leader in sunroof mechanisms and door lock housings whose products are installed in 93% of all top-brand vehicles is also celebrating its 130th anniversary.

The visitor numbers showed that Pollmann with its long tradition has made a name for itself as a key player in the modern automotive supplier industry and is also ranked among the top employers. Guests could move freely through the plant facilities along a guided path. The departments showcased technologies and manufacturing processes, and the HR team around Dr. Ernst Wurz presented the many different job profiles and career opportunities available at Pollmann. The company is looking for 60 new employees next year just for the new Pollmann plant in Vitis.

Global automotive supplier banks on location with growth opportunities

May 29, 2018. When Pollmann, one of the largest industrial employers in Northern Austria, takes the next step in its expansion strategy, it will be breaking new ground in many ways: Maximum energy efficiency, highest level of automation and a digital twin for the new manufacturing plant in Vitis, where all systems and processes can be visualized and simulated in advance. These are the ingredients for an additional 60 new jobs and a total of EUR 17 million which the company will invest in its future.  But one thing will remain unchanged: Pollmanns commitment to the Northern Waldviertel location and its people.

The global market leader in sunroof kinematics and electromechanical door locks is starting construction of a new manufacturing plant in the Waldviertel community of Vitis. The strong international growth of the company is also reflected in Austria. Here is where we have our roots, here is the foundation for our future,said owner Markus Pollmann during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new plant. He emphasized the close ties to the region: What I love about Waldviertel are its people. Highly trained, loyal employees with sound judgment who do outstanding work which is appreciated by our automotive customers.In 2019, Pollmann is looking to hire 60 new people just for Plant II in Vitis.

Pollmann voted best family-owned business 2018 in Lower Austria

Vienna. May 23, Aula der Wissenschaften – Gala event to recognize outstanding family-owned businesses. Pollmann, a global company headquartered in Waldviertel, has been voted “best family-owned business in Lower Austria”. The company began as a clock and watchmaker 130 years ago, and in the 1970s it started to steadily develop its expertise in manufacturing highly complex electromechanical modules for the automotive industry. Pollmann International continues vigorous expansion in China

Austrian automotive supplier accelerates growth

April 13 is a day when Pollmann China celebrates the future. On this date, the company, which specializes in mechanical and electromechanical modules, breaks ground for the 3rd expansion stage of its production location in Kunshan, again highlighting its strong global growth.

Having recently decided to establish a second production site in Austria, Pollmann International is now expanding its capacities also in China. The ground-breaking ceremony continues the successful growth which Pollmann Mechatronics Co., Ltd. started 12 years ago in Kunshan. Consul General Brigitte Robinson-Seyrlehner and Consul (Commercial Affairs) Mag.a Christina Schösser from the Austrian Consulate in Shanghai and Mr. Gu Xiangmin, Mayor of Zhangpu Town attended the festivities.

Dr. Waldner visits Pollmann North America

Dr. Wolfgang Waldner, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria, who is stationed in Washington DC came to visit Chicago on April 9, to meet government officials, present at the Chicago University and visit Austrian based companies.

Per the request of Austrian Trade Commissioner Mr. Peter Sedlmayer, Pollmann hosted Dr. Waldner as well and gave a presentation on Pollmann´s capabilities and invited him for a plant tour. Dr. Waldner was particularly impressed by Pollmann´s level of automation and complex manufacturing processes at the Romeoville plant.

Pollmann part of huge delegation in China

From 7th to 12th of April 2018 Stefan Pollmann from Pollmann International accompanied more than 250 personalities out of Austrian Politics and economy on a journey to Beijing and Chengdu.

Some highlights of the trip to China have been the conference "AUSTRIA CONNECT CHINA 2018" - "LET´S TALK STRATEGY" which took place in Beijing, the opening ceremony of the Austrian General Consulate in Chengdu and several fields trips to local companies. "The journey provided a great opportunity to talk to local trading partners, gave information about the impressive development of the China´s industrial power and showed promising outlook for the subsidiary in Kunshan", said Stefan Pollmann.

New Managing Director of Pollmann in Karlstein

In February, new Managing Director Winfried Rossmann took the helm at the Austria location of Pollmann, a global company with a long tradition.

Mr. Rossmann has been with Pollmann in Karlstein as Head of the Operations Department since April 2017. In this role, he was responsible for all manufacturing segments. Having worked in top global companies, Mr. Rossmann brings a lot of international experience to Pollmann. His previous professional career included working at Miba and at a Greiner subsidiary where he was Managing Director. Rossmann is looking forward to his new responsibilities: “With my experience in fields like Quality Management, Key Accounting and Production Management, I have the right qualifications for this exciting new role.”

More than 110 boys and girls interested in apprenticeships joined us with their parents for an information evening to find out about the 8 apprenticeship-based occupations offered at Pollmann.

17 apprentices will start their training in August and September. Pollmann is currently training 38 apprentices in the following fields: Mechatronics, Operations Logistics, Plastics Engineering, Technical Drawing, Metal Technology - Tool Shop Engineering, Metalworking - Turning and Electrical Engineering.

 

For the first time, we are offering training for the skilled occupation “Process(Production) Engineer” to develop skilled personnel for automated production.

Pollmann supports Caritas

Pollmann received many smiles and “thank-yous” for its donation of EUR 7,100 to the Caritas Workshop Waidhofen/Th.

 

The company’s Christmas Party philosophy has always been: “Celebrate for a good cause in the region.” The Works Council for Wage Earners did a great job running the cash bar. Managing Director Erwin Negeli matched the amount raised and proudly presented Workshop Manager Karin Fida with a check for EUR 7,100. Thanks to this tradition, Pollmann has donated a total of EUR 29,100 to various charitable organizations in our region over the past five years.

Pollmann Austria recognized 13 employees for 25 and 35 years of service

In an anniversary celebration, Pollmann and the Austrian Chamber of Labor and Commerce recognized 10 employees with 25 and 3 employees with 35 years of service.

 

As a family-owned business, appreciating and honoring long-term employees is a fundamental part of our culture and tradition. Together with the Works Council for Wage and Salary Earners, Managing Director Erwin Negeli thanked the employees for their dedicated service – a total of 355 years of experience, loyalty and exemplary commitment. 

Works Council Representative Reinhard Blumberger and Chamber of Labor Chairman Christian Hemerka from Waidhofen also expressed their gratitude and presented certificates of recognition and medals.
