Innovation and technological excellence have always been an integral element in Pollmann’s DNA. With the recent restructuring of our Development departments, we are going a decisive step further: the previous Innovation & Design department has been divided into two specialized areas – the newly created Research & Development (R&D) department and the independent Design Engineering department. This strategic realignment not only strengthens our innovative power, but also enables us to drive forward our pre-development work proactively and independently of inquiries. This enables Pollmann to react more quickly and flexibly to the complex and changing requirements of the automotive industry.
Prototype construction as a competitive advantage
Head of the new R&D Department will be the experienced Andreas Greulberger, the previous Director for Innovation & Design. With his extensive expertise and visionary way of thinking, he is the ideal candidate for this responsible position. “We see ourselves not just as a partner, but as an integral part of our customers' development processes – their extended workbench,” emphasizes Andreas Greulberger.
An important tool in this collaboration is in-house prototype construction, which is once again becoming a focus of attention. In-house prototype production allows Pollmann to test new technologies more quickly, adapt them flexibly and optimize them. This results in market-ready solutions that are available to customers much more quickly – a decisive competitive advantage for Pollmann compared to automotive suppliers who do not offer in-house prototype production.
Focus on customer proximity
Dietmar Steindl, who has been Greulberger's deputy until now, will take over the management of Design Engineering. The 37-year-old began his career at Pollmann in 2002 as a technical draftsman – back then as an apprentice to Andreas Greulberger. Today, more than 20 years later, he is following in his footsteps and taking on the management role himself. Dietmar Steindl attaches particular importance to strong teamwork in his ten-strong team and close cooperation with customers. “It is important to me that my team provides the customer with the best service, acts as a competent partner and, if desired, is also directly on site. This is the only way we can really understand the needs and challenges of our customers and develop targeted solutions that fit perfectly,” emphasizes Steindl.
New patent registration
The latest patent application is a concrete example for Pollmann’s innovative strength in this new structure: The invention eliminates previous knock-out criteria for the use of alternative current measurement solutions. This ground-breaking technology demonstrates how we are setting new standards in the industry through a targeted focus on research and development.
With the realignment of the development departments, Pollmann is ideally equipped not only to meet the dynamic challenges of the automotive industry, but to actively stay ahead of them.
With a symbolic handshake, Andreas Greulberger handed over Design Engineering to Dietmar Steindl in order to dedicate himself to the management of Research & Development.
