The figures speak for themselves: Every year, 6 million sunroofs are equipped with Pollmann components, which corresponds to 25 percent of global production. This means that one in four cars with sunroof contains a Pollmann mechanism. After three decades in this business segment, our 700 millionth panoramic roof component has now rolled off the production line. And many more will follow. While other European manufacturers are withdrawing from the sunroof sector, we are continuing to give high priority to this market. That is why we are investing heavily and are consistently expanding our global sunroof strategy.

Global presence as a competitive advantage
Pollmann has production sites in Austria, Czech Republic, China and Mexico, with series production of sunroof kinematics in Mexico starting soon, as the plant only opened in 2021. This "local for local" strategy not only minimizes transport routes and thus reduces CO2 emissions, but also ensures stable supply security – even in politically unstable times. "Local production also enables a faster and more flexible response to customer needs and market requirements," emphasizes Stefan Pollmann, Vice President of Business Development & Sales. 

Investing in state-of-the-art technologies
In addition to global expansion, Pollmann is also continuously investing in modern technologies and production processes. The most recent example is the installation of a fully automated assembly system in the Czech Republic that carries out the 2K overmolding of sunroof kinematics in a single process step. The result: higher efficiency and lower production costs. Flexible production systems that can easily be used for diverse projects are another advantage for our customers. 

New Sunroof Business Development
In order to secure and further expand Pollmann's market leadership, a specialized business development team drives the development of new, innovative concepts and solutions. With our own CIP managers at our plants, we also ensure that internal processes are continuously optimized. “In order to use potentials for improvement together with our customers,” says Business Development Manager Peter Greulberger. The fact that we are a one-stop shop, combining everything from development to series production under one roof, also makes many things easier. 

The market for panoramic roofs continues to show a stable growth and our vision is clear: Pollmann will continue to be a leading innovator and reliable partner in the segment of sunroof kinematics – today and in the future.
