Pollmann China celebrates doubling of plant size

Opening of 3rd expansion stage with Austrian delegation in attendance

Kunshan/Karlstein. Many guests accepted Pollmann’s invitation to the opening of the 3rd expansion stage of its production site in the City of Kunshan in China. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Chinese officials and also by an Austrian delegation that visited China to explore business opportunities.

“We are delighted to welcome Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria, and Christian Moser, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Austria, to the opening ceremony,” said Ewald Miksche, Managing Director of Pollmann China. Pollmann will soon start production at a second production site in Austria and is expanding its capacities in China at the same time. This doubling of the plant size continues the successful growth which Pollmann Mechatronics Co., Ltd. started 13 years ago in the City of Kunshan.

In her speech, the Governor called this a “great day for Pollmann, the State of Lower Austria, the City of Kunshan and this region”. She pointed out that Pollmann had “the vision to make decisions that turned out to be highly successful.” The opening of the third expansion stage in Kunshan is “another milestone” in this development. Referring to the China visit of the delegation from Lower Austria, the Governor expressed her appreciation “for being welcomed as guests to exchange experiences, start new collaborative ventures and continue existing partnerships.” The Pollmann plant in Kunshan is “living proof” that the collaboration between Lower Austria and China is working very well.

The third expansion stage almost doubled the size of the plant. This step became necessary because of the strong demand in the fast-growing Chinese market and related developments among Pollmann’s long-standing Tier 1 customers. Pollmann China Managing Director Ewald Miksche is happy about this trend: “The positive business development in China makes many things possible. Doubling the size of our plant will also strengthen our market presence.”

The building space will be increased by 9,360m² to a total of 20,500m², all located on Pollmann’s existing premises. “Fortunately, we had the foresight to buy a large enough piece of land so that we can respond well to today’s market developments,” says Markus Pollmann, owner of the company which is headquartered in Waldviertel in Lower Austria.

With the new addition, the company has an area of 3,600m2 available for injection molding and room for double the number of injection molding machines in the production units.

Based on 375 million Chinese yuan in 2017, the sales target for 2022 is 600 million Chinese yuan or about 80 million euros. The plan is to generate this amount with the growing number of Chinese customers and through continued business with world-renowned automotive supplier brands like BOSCH, BROSE, CONTINENTAL, MAGNA, INTEVA, INALFA and WEBASTO.

“The mostly air-conditioned production facilities, the high degree of automation and the production output at our location are impressive even by Chinese standards,” says Managing Director Ewald Miksche. “We are told that the cleanliness down to the smallest detail has made us a model plant in the Kunshan economic region. People also highly value Pollmann’s 130-year tradition as a family-owned business,” adds Miksche.
