Girls’ Day at Pollmann

April 25 was Girls’ Day at Pollmann. 23 female students from the New Secondary School (NMS) Waidhofen/Th got to take a look at technical job opportunities at Pollmann.

“Powerful jobs for powerful girls”. “Our goal was to get female students excited about technical jobs and help them choose a profession," said Winfried Rossmann, CEO of Pollmann Austria.

During a tour of the company, Birgit Teubel, Daniela Zibusch, Michaela Schön and Alexandra Winkler introduced the visitors to four different technical careers. They gave an overview of electromechanical component production at Pollmann and also shared their expertise and experience in the fields of Technical Drawing, Toolmaking, Logistics and Quality Management. The students were invited to get some hands-on experience in the apprentice workshop and made a plastic cube under the guidance of Roman Zibusch.

Pollmann has for many years successfully employed women in technical jobs traditionally held by men. About one third of Pollmann employees are women. Pollmann is currently training 41 apprentices in 8 different technical occupations. Nine of them are female and are doing apprenticeships in Plastics Engineering, Metalworking (previously Turning Department), Process Technology, Mechatronics and Tool Shop Engineering.
